Mardan (the land of hospitality) is the 2nd major city of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa which is located at an altitude of 283 meters (937 feet). The ease of access makes it one of the best approachable city in the whole Province. Situated on the National highway at a distance of 15 km from Nowshera and 2 km from Motorway Rashakai interchange, Mardan is also surrounded and linked by road with Charsadda, Swabi, Bunir, Malakand , Swat and Dir.
It was part of ancient Gandhara civilization, whose remains are scattered in different areas of Mardan District like Shahbaz Garhi and Takht Bhai.


Mardan Medical Complex (MMC), is having all the major and minor specialties with state-of-the-art diagnostic (CT Scanner, MRI, Fluroscopy, X-Rays & Lab invesitgaiton machines) and supportive services. MMC is the Teaching Hospital of BKMC. Phase-I and II of MMC have already been completed and the total bed strength that time was 400 which is recently enhanced to 730.
In addition to this, construction work on a 200 bedded Mohtarama Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Children Hospital is near to completion. The Emergency & OPD services has been started in year 2018. Admitting capacity of the college is 100 in MBBS and 50 in BDS courses. At present 10 batches of MBBS and 09 batches of BDS students are passed out.
MTI Mardan comprises Mardan Medical Complex (MMC)- A Teaching Hospital of 730 beds was established in 1996-97, Bacha Khan Medical College (BKMC) of 100 seats per year was approved in October 2008 and MBBS classes were started in January 2010, Bacha Khan College of Dentistry (BKCD) of 50 seats per year was estalbished in 2012, Benazir Bhutto Children Hospital (BBCH) was declared as constituent unit of MTI Mardan in 2018, College of Nursing Mardan (CNM) of 150 seats per year was established in 2018, College of Medical Technology (CMT) of 175 seats per year was established in 2019.
The first Board of Governors (BoG) with nominated Members from the private sector was also established in April 2016. The Board comprised of senior and renowned Health Professionals, Health Reformers, IT Industry and Social Services.
